short form bill of lading (B/L)
Definition
B/L without the terms and conditions of carriage (the rights, responsibilities and liabilities of the carrier and the shipper) printed on its back. Otherwise, in size, it is no different from the long form B/L. The shipper and the carrier are bound by the conditions of carriage (governed generally by the older Hague rules or by the more recent Hague-Visby Rules) whether printed on the B/L or not.
