Definition
Health services provided by a variety of public and/or private organizations but billed to a single entity. In policy discussions in United States, the proposed single-payer is understood to be a government body in charge of administering tax payer subsidized health insurance funds. Medicare and the Veteran's Administration systems are examples of single-payer health care programs currently used in the U.S.
