A systematic approach to ensure the quality of data in accordance with a pre-defined standard. Designed to enable a document to pass on its first inspection, a software inspection plan typically includes six components:
1. Header - includes entry criteria and the benchmark for success
2. Meeting - set plan for all work meetings
3. Document - defines the portions of the document under examination as well as any other documents that will serve as a standard for comparison
4. Participants - identifying all team members
5. Standard Rates and Estimates - establishes work rates for all processes as well as a budgeted timeframe for hourly work
6. Data Collection - enables inspectors to record all costs, work completed and any additional concerns
