specially denatured alcohol (SDA)

Popular Terms
Type of industrial ethyl alcohol or ethanol (used in cosmetics, toiletries, personal care products, and pharmaceuticals) which is denatured according to its intended use. SDA used in an aftershave lotion, for example, may kill if swallowed and is very different from the SDA used in a mouthwash which may only make one ill if swallowed. US products containing more than four percent SDA are required to display the poison sign (skull and crossbones) on their label.
