stable dollar assumption
Definition
A basic premise used by business accountants when putting together financial statements denominated in U.S. Dollars that the currency's value does not fluctuate significantly. Of course, the stable dollar assumption breaks down when the U.S. Dollar rises or falls substantially relative to other major currencies on the foreign exchange market. Also called stable monetary unit.
