staged inventory
Definition
Inventory items that have been transferred from the pick area, packaging area, inspection area, or general warehouse area to the location where they are ready to be loaded onto a shipping vehicle. Keeping the flow of outbound shipments consistent is critical for preventing accumulation of staged inventory. Inbound inventory may also be staged as part of the putaway process.
