Definition
A written request seeking manufacturing changes to a product for the purposes of customization. Often including changes to design, composition, weight or processing, a supplier request for engineering approval typically requires the supplier to state the expected effect any changes in manufacturing will produce as well as tooling or factory changes required and any impact on shipping schedule and cost.
