system administrator (sys admin)

Person responsible for running and maintaining the networked computers, peripherals, and the network itself. He or she, among other functions, (1) installs hardware and software, (2) issues login names, (3) maintains security, (4) fixes bugs and crashes, and (5) monitors the network. In case of a single desktop computer, the user often acts as the sys admin.
