systemic error
Definition
Error that affects all items comprising a group (such as a production batch) in a similar manner and to a similar magnitude. Systemic errors are caused by a flaw in the system (such as in the calibration of a measuring device), occur in the same direction and, therefore, do not cancel each other out. Also called constant error or (erroneously) systematic error.
