Definition
A trustee may retire or be removed from office (1) if expressly allowed in the trust document, (2) as allowed in the relevant statute, (3) by the order of a court. Trusteeship terminates on death and the office devolves to the surviving trustees. If there is no surviving trustee, office devolves to the deceased trustee's personal representative.
