Definition
Statistical probability in hypothesis testing that the test sample supports a conclusion that a value is correctly stated when, in fact, the value is misstated. Also called beta error or beta risk, it is the mirror image of type 1 error and results in a failure to reject a false hypothesis. Written also as type II error.
