unfavorable balance of payments
Definition
Situation where payments made out of the country are more than payments received by the company. Unequal flow of money under an unfavorable balance of payments will reduce the country's money supply and increase the exchange rate to currencies in other countries, causing issues with inflation, unemployment and production. Also called balance of payments deficit.
