Definition
A handheld scanner that may be designed to read barcodes or RFID tags. A portable wand permits greater access to stock items in remote locations and can increase the speed and efficiency of inventory management. A barcode wand scanner requires line-of-sight with an item's label while RFID wand scanners must simply be in proximity to the radio frequency tag to collect data.
