wetting agent

Definition

Surfactant or other material that lowers the surface tension of a fluid, and its interfacial tension with another fluid or grime (substrate soil). Wetting agents allow a cleaning fluid to spread over the surface of another liquid, surface of a solid, and to penetrate a porous surface (such as textiles), thus loosening grime for easier removal.
