wrongful dismissal
Definition
Termination of a contract of employment without due process or in a manner that violates the terms of the contract. In such cases, the courts usually take the employee's contractual rights into consideration in awarding damages. Also called wrongful discharge or wrongful termination. See also unfair dismissal.
